What does AOAC certification mean?

The AOAC Research Institute's Performance Tested Methods (PTM) program provides independent third-party validation and certification of proprietary analytical methods. This certification ensures that a method meets the necessary standards for its intended use. The process includes validation study design, independent lab testing, and expert peer review. The PTM certification is widely recognized for ensuring reliable testing methods. Certified methods are reviewed annually for renewal to maintain high standards. What does AOAC certification include?

The PTM program process includes:

  • AOAC RI facilitates expert peer review of the results of validation studies submitted by the method developer and a validation study performed by an independent laboratory.
  • When approved, AOAC RI grants AOAC Performance TestedSM certification, and the organization is licensed to use the certification mark.
  • The certification is reviewed for renewal the following year.
