🚧 Shelf Life, storage and transport of Delvotest® tests

Shelf life

Delvotest® microbial inhibition products T and SPNT,  both have a shelf life of 12 months from the date of production if stored according to instructions.

Storage conditions

Delvotest® microbial inhibition products, such as Delvotest® T and SP-NT, should be stored under the following conditions to maintain their quality:

  • Storage Position: Keep the products upright.
  • Packaging: Store in the original packaging.
  • Light: Keep in the dark.
  • Temperature: Maintain a constant temperature below 8 °C and prevent freezing. The preferred storage temperature is between 4 °C and 8 °C.

Avoid exposing the products to lower or fluctuating temperatures, as this may cause the contents to soften, potentially leading to the loosening of the agar or the formation of air bubbles. In other way, storing at higher temperatures can shorten the shelf life of the products.

Transport conditions

Delvotest® microbial inhibition products, including Delvotest® T and SP-NT, can be transported at ambient temperatures for several days without affecting the quality of the tests.

Verify performance on arrival

To ensure the tests are still in good condition, you can verify their quality if there are any doubts. Simply open the box and take one ampoule or one block of 16 tests and perform a test using a known antibiotic-free cow milk sample. For example, you can use (~3.5% fat) milk from retail store or, if available, a known negative milk control sample.

To confirm that the tests are in good condition, the required incubation times for a yellow negative result, also known as the Control Time (see also 'What is ‘Control Time?’)  are as follows

  • Delvotest® T: 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours 15 minutes, according to the specification.
  • Delvotest® SP-NT: 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours, according to the specification.

If the tests achieve these incubation times, they are in good condition.
