In this article, we will explore how to manage software—including how to check or remove the current version, or update it on one or multiple DAS(es).
Checking Current Version
In the top-right corner, click on the Setup tab, then scroll down to the Software Version section where you can see the software version your DAS is currently running under the Current version parameter (e.g., "0.1.99").
Updating Software
The DAS is a living digital product—which is constantly being improved based on feedback and developing requirements from our beloved users. Therefore, from time to time, we release new software versions to add features and fix any bugs we pick up along the way. We strongly advise making sure you're always running the latest version—which we do our best to notify you directly via email whenever available, with a brief explanation of what's new. Alternatively, you can also check this yourself on our Latest Software Version page🔗 where you will be able to download the relevant software file. Typically, this is a '.tar.bz2' format file, with the version included in its file name (e.g., version_0.2.05.tar.bz2).
Updating // Step 1
Sign in as the administrator🔗.
Updating // Step 2
Download the .tar.bz2 file (see above) onto the computer from which you are accessing the interface.
Updating // Step 3
In the top-right corner, click on the Setup tab, then scroll down to the Software Version section where you can click on the Choose File button (see screenshot below).
Updating // Step 4
Once you click on it, a dialogue box should appear, where you will need to navigate to the location you've stored the .tar.bz2 file and select it.
Updating // Step 5
The dialogue box should then disappear, returning you to the still-open Setup tab where the .tar.bz2 file name should appear next to the Choose File button (e.g., "version_0.2.05.tar.bz2"). Once that's shown, click on the Upload file button.
Updating // Step 6
Once uploaded, the New Package field value will update (e.g., "version_0.2.05.tar.bz2"), and a new Upgrade software button should appear. To extract and install the new software, simply click on it.
Updating // Step 7
After clicking on the Upgrade software button, a loading screen should appear. Stay on this screen and wait until loading is finished (c. 30~60 seconds).
Updating // Step 8
Once the installation is complete, refresh the page and, back in the Set up tab's Software Version section, check that the Latest installed version parameter value has been updated (e.g., "version_0.2.05.tar.bz2").
Updating // Step 9
Now that the Latest installed version field is updated, to ensure the update is successful you will need to restart the DAS. To do this, simply go to the Set up tab's Restart section and click on the Restart application button (see screenshot below). This will temporarily discontinue your connection with the DAS as it safely reboots. That means you will need to wait c. 30~60 seconds until the rebooting is complete before you can refresh the page or re-enter the IP address on your browser's address bar🔗 to reconnect with the DAS.
Updating // Step 10
Once the DAS has rebooted and you've been able to reconnect with it, the Current version field should now display the updated software version (e.g., "0.2.05")—and voilà! You have successfully updated your DAS's software 😊
💡 By the way, if you are operating multiple DASes, did you know that you don't need to manually update the software for each by following the steps above? That's right! As long as one DAS that's been updated with the latest software is connected to the other DASes in your local network, you can deploy the latest version to all other DASes with the Update other devices feature🔗.
Removing Current Version
Starting from software version 0.1.99 and higher, you have the option to remove the current software version. This feature is intended to assist with troubleshooting in rare circumstances or specific edge cases—so before attempting this on your own, please get in touch with us at support@delvotest.com to confirm this is the correct approach for your issue. If that's the case, feel free to follow the steps below.
Removing // Step 1
Sign in as the administrator🔗.
Removing // Step 2
In the Set up tab, scroll down to the Remove software section and click on the Remove current software button. This will temporarily discontinue your connection with the DAS as it safely reboots. That means you will need to wait c. 30~60 seconds until the rebooting is complete before you can refresh the page or re-enter the IP address on your browser's address bar🔗 to reconnect with the DAS.
Removing // Step 3
Once the DAS has rebooted and you've been able to reconnect with it again, the Current version field should now display the previous software version (e.g., typically "0.1.99")—and voilà! You have successfully removed your DAS's software 😊 To update it with a new software version, simply follow the steps set out above in this article's Updating Software section🔗.
Next Steps
Now that you know how to manage your DAS(es) software—including checking, updating, and removing software versions—you can enhance accountability and record-keeping in your lab by tracking which operator conducts a test. In the next article, we'll explain how to do.
