🧩 What you'll need

When setting up the Delvotest® Accelerator Smart (DAS), ensuring proper safety and environmental conditions is critical for both optimal device performance and operator safety. Make sure every device is placed on a stable surface with the appropriate dimensions to avoid any risk of it tipping over or being damaged, and that the appropriate electrical and temperature safeguards are in place. In this article, we’ll look at the following topics to guide you through setting up everything:

  1. Package Contents
  2. Environmental Requirements
  3. Network Requirements
  4. Local Validation Plan

Package Contents

  • 1x Delvotest® Accelerator Smart
  • 1x Calibration Colourcard
  • 1x 24V DC 4A Power Adapter with EU Cable
  • 1x LAN CAT6 Ethernet Cable 1.5m
  • // mention heating grid as a separate part? //
  • Temperature calibration statement

// Should we also recommend that they have: (1) thermometer + timer etc. for verifying temperature accuracy, (2) roller (for plate foil), (3) Eppendorf pipettes with disposable pipette tips, (4) validated negative controls // I know it overlaps a bit with plates, so maybe we should separate the thermometer etc. and link the rest (though mentioning high-level) to a plate article. //

Environmental Requirements

To guarantee proper functioning, the DAS should be installed and operated under the following environmental conditions:

  • Operating temperature: 5°C~35°C
  • Operating humidity: ≤80% relative humidity (RH)

If the DAS is not put into operation immediately, store it in its original packaging to protect it from environmental factors. Ensure that the storage area meets the following conditions:

  • Storage temperature: 0°C~60°C
  • Storage humidity: ≤90% relative humidity

Avoid exposing the DAS to excessive humidity, impacts, or vibrations during storage or transportation.

// We should state storage conditions for the colourcard too i.e., dark, cool, and dry place, preferably at c. 21°C and not exceeding c. 50% relative humidity //

Network Requirements

The DAS supports only wired Ethernet connections and is designed to obtain its IP address automatically from a DHCP server. You can operate the DAS devices through a browser interface without the need for internet access. Simply enter the device's IP address into your browser's address bar from a computer on the same local network. Here are the key points to consider for your network's setup:

  • DHCP server
The DAS relies on a DHCP server to assign IP addresses automatically.

  • Stable IP address
If a stable IP address is needed, you can set up IP address reservations based on the DAS device’s MAC address via your router’s configuration. This ensures that the same IP address is assigned each time.

  • No static IP
The DAS does not support static IP configurations or wireless connections. This helps avoid unnecessary network configuration problems.

  • No Wireless Connections
The DAS does not support wireless connectivity. All connections must be made using Ethernet cables.

Whether you plan to connect a single or multiple DASes to your system, we advise working with a router with sufficient Ethernet ports or an additional network switch. Consider the following:

  • Router/Switch Capacity
Ensure your router or network switch has enough Ethernet ports to accommodate all DASes. If necessary, use a network switch to expand the number of available ports.

  • DHCP Server Capability
Confirm that your router's DHCP server can assign IP addresses to all connected DASes.

  • IP Address Range
Adjust your router's DHCP settings to provide a sufficient range of IP addresses for all DASes.

Below you can see the two standard options for either operating a single or multiple devices. In all cases, we recommend configuring your network architecture as depicted for the second 'routed' option, as this provides some key accessibility and automation advantages:

Local Validation Plan

The DAS is certified for use with Delvotest® T plates by Association Française de Normalisation (AFNOR). For more information, check out this article🔗. This international certification is an overarching, global recognition of performance. However, it's also important to validate performance under your local conditions — therefore before getting started we recommend setting out a robust local validation plan🔗 to make sure your new DAS system performs in accordance with your local requirements.
